Ruom had been working closely with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) since 2013 on various projects across Asia.

During one UNFPA collaboration, Luc Forsyth and Nicolas Axelrod travelled through Nepal, Bangladesh and Cambodia. Documenting a range of important maternal health initiatives from midwifery to the prevention of obstetric fistula, the project focused on telling the stories of the women and children for whom reliable access to health care is a constant worry.

On another occasion we worked in the far north of Cambodian documenting how an improved educational project for midwives along with a fleet of ambulances for remote clinics and hospitals. is helping to improve health care for mothers and infants in Cambodia,
